Deputy President William Ruto has responded to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s dare for him to resign instead of criticising the government.
Speaking at Kiwanjani Ngaramara Ward Grounds in Isiolo County on February 13, stated that he had been respectful to the president through the campaigns and the two terms in office.
“Nimemheshimu na sijawahi sema mambo kinyume na yeye hata kama kazi ningefaa kufanya kama naibu wake zinafanywa na watu wengine”
(I have respected the president and have never gone against him even when some of the duties that are supposed to be performed by my office have been allocated to other individuals)” he stated.
He stated that he observed a high level of respect because of his desire to ensure there was unity in the country.
Ruto added that he was not in competition with the president adding that he was keen on performing the duties of his office under the president.
“Nimefanya kazi ameniambia nifanye na hakuna kazi hata moja amesema nifanye na sijafanya. Niko tayari kushirikiana na watu wote.
(I have performed all the duties the president has assigned to me and there isn’t one that I have fallen short on. I am ready to work with everyone)” he stated.
